Last week I was at helium as usual for the open mic on Tuesdays and I had a bunch of new stuff to try out. An old drug dealer friend who I haven't talked to in 15 years hit me up on Facebook so I talked about that for a couple minutes and it went over very well, as well as some Valentine's Day material. I'm really happy with the drug dealer stuff and I'll tied into my crack cocaine material. All that crack smoking back in the day turned out to be great later on in life!
This is a personal blog / diary of my experiences being a stand up comedian. Most of the entries take place in the Portland Oregon / Pacific NW area.

The Eventuary
Tonight I am performing at a really cool Mortuary converted into an event space and Lincoln City called The eventuary. This place is full of whimsical antiques on every surface. Cool shit everywhere, paintings, old ship parts, clocks, so much it's an American Pickers dream.
I'm on a three-person show and I go out first. There's 50-plus people packed into the room and the youngest is probably 50 years old. Luckily they're on board for everything I give them, I have a pretty good set and do a lot of material about the space and the crowds on board. Walked off feeling pretty good about myself and was glad I won over all those older people.
Sometimes an older crowd can be very not into what I do, tonight was not the case.

Pacific Growlers
Last night I got booked a feature at a show and a small bar and Beaverton. Big open room with a couple at table set-up held about 40 people. I got there a little early anyways just bullshiting not really preparing for this sat or anything, I didn't think you'd be that good of a show honestly so I just was playing it loose.
Turned out to be a great show! For me at least. First couple of comics had meh sets and then I went up and just felt pretty strong from start to finish. There was a lady in the audience that wouldn't shut the hell up and was constantly talking so I ripped into her the audience loved it she came onstage and I started talking s*** to her and the crowd was feeling it. She was drunk, I called her out... I left with a huge applause and will be back soon.
Headliner ate shit. It was really awkward and bad, he did 40 minutes and only told maybe two jokes and it was pretty terrible

Dirty Dozen
This week I got the pleasure of Hosting another Dirty Dozen! First one of 2017, and it started with a bang! The lineup was packed with some of the best comics in Portland and the audience was packed with the best people as well. Really high energy, loud laughing group of people.
I went up as the host and did about seven minutes of new stuff I come up with the weekend before. Some of it worked pretty good some of it didn't, but that's the roots as a host yet fill out the audience and see what you can do. I got some good reads on some new material that I'm happy with it, so it was productive for me.
The lineup was great, all the comics had stellar sets! The crowd was very happy at the end of this show and I look forward to the next one! Next month is a roast battle so stay tuned for that!

Alberta Rose Theater
Last night I got the pleasure of performing at a sold-out Alberta Rose Theatre for a Planned Parenthood benefit. It was a fantastic show with eight storytellers and a hungry crowd. 4 went up, then an intermission then the last 4. The theater is gorgeous, a real nice setting for any show and I was excited to be on it.
My set went fantastic! I did an old story that I tweaked up about a girl falling down a staircase, classic. The crowd ate it up, I was only on stage for six or seven minutes and it flew by. Really awesome response at all the tags in my story, I wish every set I did was in that kind of setting. I'm very grateful that the people at Planned Parenthood reached out and put me on the show, I hope to do another one again!
