Tonight I am back on the grind at Helium for the open mic. I got sick last week so havent been out in a couple days. It was St. Patricks Day so I called all the green wearers out for being fake and then I just went through a couple of concepts and talked them out. The crowd was pretty tight through the whole evening, weird for a St. Patricks Day. You'd think they would be all drunk and loose but whatever.
The punchline to my "Goosebumps" weed story didnt hit very hard and I addressed it. I told the crowd the were right for not liking it and although the story was engaging, the punchline is just not worth the buildup. I spent the last minute of my set not so much as doing comedy but just talking to the audience about how I felt about the joke. I like to include them, I feel like the audience likes it when I drop the theatrics and just talk to them like Im talking to a friend about comedy sometimes.
